Penguins are aquatic birds that swim quickly. Even though they are birds, penguins cannot fly.
Penguin’s diet is mainly fish. One of their main predator is the leopard seal.
In the spring, penguins will waddle from the sea to where they will lay their eggs. Penguins find a mate and in early summer the female penguin lays an egg. Fun fact: the egg weighs about one pound (454 grams).
The mother and father carefully transfer the egg between each other and the mother goes to the sea for tasty food. The father incubates the egg until it hatches later in the summer. By the end of the year, the chicks are big enough to go out on their own.
