Crocodiles are reptiles that are in a group called crocodilians. Many types of crocodiles can grow over 13 feet long and the largest can be over 20 feet! Crocodiles have hard scales on their back.
Crocodiles are excellent swimmers and use their tails to move through the water. They hunt for fish and mammals in water, catching them with their sharp teeth. All crocodiles have very strong jaws that can cut a large animal in half. However, you can easily hold a crocodile’s mouth shut once it’s closed.
